CT Pulse: State Rep. Shaban, top news and rejected cartoons

CT Pulse, a show on politics, what’s trending in the Constitution state and more, airs Wednesdays at 12:30. Watch it on demand later, or see this week’s show below:

CT Pulse is hosted by Kate Czaplinski and Josh Fisher. Our guest this week is state Rep. John Shaban who is in his third term representing the 135th General Assembly District, consisting of Easton, Redding and Weston. Shaban announced last August that he will seek the Republican nomination to challenge U.S. Congressman Jim Himes for his seat representing Connecticut’s 4th district.

Shaban talks about Connecticut taxes, General Electric’s move out of Fairfield, national politics and much more. He also discusses why some refer to him as a “tree-hugging Republican” and why he believes Connecticut’s 4th district needs a new representative in D.C.

Drawing-Conclusions-2Doug Smith, our editorial cartoonist joins us later to give a look at his interpretation of this week’s news. And, we’re excited to say, he will show us a couple of his rejected cartoons.

We also a look at some of the stories grabbing our attention this week, including Trumbull’s town treasurer and first selectman butting heads a few weeks in, Greenwich teachers setting parameters for answering email during off hours and a bald eagle sighting in Redding.
