Fairfield girls make annual bicycle donation to Sterling House

Four years ago, the Tedesco family purchased a bicycle for a cousin who lived in Texas. The cousin was coming to Connecticut to visit. As it turns out she wasn’t able to come, so the girls, Sofia Tedesco, and Olivia Geckler, decided to donate the bike to the Sterling House Toy Drive. They made a commitment then, that each year from then on, they would purchase bicycles for Sterling House — donating an additional bike each year.

2015 marked their fourth year, and the girls donated four beautiful bicycles to the Sterling House Toy Drive. Two families that were registered with the Toy Drive program received bicycles for their young children.

“We want to continue to do this project each year, increasing the number of bikes per year to make other kids feel good during the holiday who would not be able to get them from their own families,” said the girls. When asked how long they will do this project, they responded “forever!”

Sofia Tedesco, age 13; Olivia Geckeler, age 13; both attend St. Thomas Equinas Church in Fairfield where they live.
