The game is part of what figures to be a wide-open FCIAC playoff race this season, as many of last year’s top players graduated. Westhill’s Tyrell Alexander is the only returning player from last year’s All-Conference first and second teams.

Danbury (4-0, 1-0), which returns much of its roster from a team that qualified for the FCIAC tournament last year, is at the forefront of the contenders this season.

The No. 8 seed in last winter’s FCIAC tournament, Danbury gave top-seeded Westhill, the eventual champion, all it could handle before falling 46-38 in the quarterfinal round.

The Hatters have roared out of the starting gate this season, beating Abbott Tech 68-39, Immaculate 62-52, Hartford Public 69-63 and Westhill 77-55 on Tuesday.

Leading the way are Marcus Fox, a 6-foot-3 forward who averaged double-digits in scoring last winter and has taken on the role of a team co-captain for his junior year.

Also filling the role of co-captains are a trio of seniors in forwards Judah James and Pierre Moudourou, both 6-foot-3, and football standout Tyren McCrea, a guard.

Norwalk (0-4, 0-1), meanwhile has struggled so far this season and is still looking for its first victory. The Bears fell to Harding 92-77 in their opener, before losing to Masuk 66-60, Ridgefield 52-38, and on Tuesday to Trinity Catholic, 76-64.

The Bears, who finished as last year’s FCIAC runners-up, graduated most of their scoring from that team, but they still boast plenty of talent and should be able to right the ship before long.

Leading the Bears are the 6-foot-3 A.J. Jerome and the 6-foot-5 Jakari Gainer, both senior forwards and co-captains.

Also taking on the role of senior co-captains are guards Zach White and Eddie O’Hara, who can be deadly from beyond the three-point arc.

You can watch Thursday’s game on your computer, phone, tablet or web-ready TV at live.HAN.Network, FCIAC.net and HAN’s affiliate websites. Coverage, led by Rob Adams, begins at 6:55 p.m. on Thursday.
