Bigelow Center senior events include first annual tree lighting

Thursday, Dec. 10, at 5 p.m. — First annual Bigelow Center Tree Lighting features cider in the lobby and carols sung by the Roger Ludlowe Choristers. All are welcome.

Thursday, Dec. 10, at 6:30 p.m. — The Story Behind Snoopy and the Red Baron. Starting on Christmas Eve, many German and British troops sang Christmas carols to each other across the lines, and at certain points the Allied soldiers even heard brass bands joining the Germans in their joyous singing. Art Gottlieb presents. Program and a light supper provided by Interim Healthcare. Registration required.

Snow Shoveling for Seniors — It’s that time of year again. Our Snow Shoveling for Seniors program connects seniors and people with disabilities in Fairfield with students who are willing to provide snow shoveling services. Once registration is completed, a list of available shovelers is mailed out. Those enrolled in the program are responsible for contacting the volunteer from the list provided and for making financial or scheduling arrangements. The volunteer is responsible for completing the task or notifying the resident if they are unable to complete the work.

The Family Holiday Program — Fairfield Social Services is reaching out to the community to help families in need during the holiday season. Fairfield Social Services works together with other local organizations to ensure that local families in need are supported during the holidays.

The Family Holiday Program provides gift certificates and gift cards in lieu of wrapped presents to families in need. Any denomination is most welcome. Donors are asked to call 203-256-3170 or come in to the Bigelow Center for Senior Activities at 100 Mona Terrace.

Class Notes: Guided Meditation will meet Thursday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. Saturday morning exercise and Meditation classes are cancelled.
