LETTER: Supports Fairfield Train Station Solar Project

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor:

I respectfully and enthusiastically support the Fairfield Train Station Solar Project. It is a money saving project (about $2 million saved) without cost to the town; it will provide predictable, and reduced, energy costs for Tomlinson Middle School; and it will support clean energy jobs. It continues Fairfield’s proactive clean energy leadership and will attract people to our town.

The project also will have health benefits in reducing carbon emissions by more than 20,000 tons. The solar panels will provide shelters to parked cars and will enhance the appearance of the parking lot. These are only some of the many benefits of the project.

It’s notable that this project is coming to the Fairfield Board of Selectpersons during the Paris Global Climate Conference. We invite interested citizens to join in an interfaith vigil at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Wednesday, Dec. 9, from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. to support global climate agreements to reduce carbon emissions and help secure the future of our planet for our children and children’s children.
