Football: Warde defeats Ludlowe, 35-14

Fairfield Warde defeated Fairfield Ludlowe, 35-14, on Thanksgiving Day at Taft Field.

Warde finished the season at 3-6 after winning the Gallagher-Banyas Trophy for the third consecutive season.

Ludlowe completed the campaign with a 2-7 record.

Jack Potenza was Warde’s MVP; Chris Howell took home Ludlowe honors.

Potenza tossed three touchdown passes to Mike Whiting, covering 69, 5 and 62 yards.

Warde took leads of 7-0 after one period and 28-7 after two. Following a scoreless third quarter, the rivals played the final stanza to a 7-7 standoff.

Ludlowe’s Aidan Kudzy threw scoring passes to Howell (67 yards) and Javion Beasley (13 yards).

Warde’s Bryan Azarian ran for a 9-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

Potenza ran one in from 11 yards out in the fourth.

David Summers made all five conversion kicks for Warde.

Eric af Petersens had two PATs for Ludlowe.
