Brand will do what’s best for Fairfield

To the Editor:

I have known Sue Brand for years; my oldest daughter started school with one of Sue’s children. We have chatted while selling cupcakes at a school bake sale and watched our daughters run track at Fairfield Ludlowe High School, and I had a daughter at Tomlinson Middle School when Sue served as PTA president, working so hard to keep it a safe and effective environment during an occupied renovation, among other accomplishments.

Evidence of Sue’s character starts right at home. She and her husband have raised terrific young people and taught them what really matters.

Her leadership doesn’t end there. When there is something that needs to be done, in our schools or in our town, I notice that Sue gets the facts, all of them, and then gets to work, tackling the job head on. She truly has the best interests of our community at heart. Sue does not shy away from sensitive or unpopular issues, and doesn’t try to take the easy route. She makes it her business to find out what she needs to know and how she can make a positive difference, as a parent, a resident or an elected official.

Sue’s wit is as sharp as her intellect. She can talk to all kinds of people and, more importantly, she listens to everyone, which makes her great at working with people.

As busy as she has been, raising her children, working hard in our schools and our town, as a parent volunteer and in more official roles, and on to her work on the Fairfield Board of Education, I have always been impressed at how kind and considerate Sue is. Even if it’s only a few times a year that we run into one another in town these days, she remembers my girls and where they are at school and what they are doing.

Sue Brand is just the kind of person we want representing us in Hartford. She cares about our town and the residents of Fairfield. We can count on her integrity to ensure that the decisions that are made in Hartford will be what’s best for Fairfield. She is ready to advocate for all of us, so vote for Sue Brand for state representative on Nov. 6.
