Sacred Heart University to host cybersecurity panel discussion

Sacred Heart University will host an information session on computer science and cybersecurity master’s programs, featuring a talk on the importance of cybersecurity in today’s world Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 6:30, in the Curtis Hall Theatre, Sacred Heart University, 5151 Park Avenue, Fairfield.

Greg Kyrytschenko, associate program director for cybersecurity at Sacred Heart University, has more than 17 years of information security experience working for several large- and medium-sized financial institutions, defense contractors and consulting firms. He has held several lead roles in security operations and engineering, security architecture focusing in threat and vulnerability management, network security, cyber defense, identity and access management and application security. He is also associate director for cybersecurity at Sacred Heart University where he established the state of Connecticut’s first cybersecurity higher education graduate program. Kyrytschenko remains very active in the information security community where he has participated and presented at several industry conferences.

Margaritis Karapelou serves as a regional sales manager at Splunk, Inc. In this role, she advises some of the largest companies in the U.S. on obtaining value from machine data. Prior to Splunk, she spent more than 10 years working with global financial services companies such as JP Morgan Chase, helping them solve a myriad of business problems with various technologies. Karapelou also served as a district sales manager, global account manager and account manager within the telecommunications industry.
