Award-winning journalist Campbell Brown to speak at Sacred Heart University

Linda McMahon, co-founder and former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), will host award-winning journalist Campbell Brown in the fourth installment of her ongoing series, “Women Can Have it All,” at Sacred Heart University.

McMahon and Brown will share their perspectives on women in leadership on Thursday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m., in the Forum at the Frank and Marisa Martire Business & Communications Center at Sacred Heart University. The public is invited.

The series, sponsored by the Jack Welch College of Business, examines how women can balance career, family, friendship and personal time. It features conversations with female leaders across a variety of industries and focuses on topics relevant to women in the workplace, such as management, entrepreneurship and changing careers.

“As a former CEO, I want to show women that there are no limits to what they can achieve, whether through entrepreneurship, government, non-profits, arts, science or any other path they choose,” McMahon said. “And there is plenty of room for women at the top.”

Brown is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Seventy Four, a non-profit, non-partisan news site that pursues stories about the education of America’s 74 million children in honest and relentless terms.

Prior to launching The Seventy Four, Brown founded the Partnership for Educational Justice (PEJ), a coalition of parents pushing for great public schools through advocacy and legal action. Before PEJ, Brown founded and led the Parents’ Transparency Project, a watchdog group that investigates and reports on failures and inequality in the public education system.

Brown began her career as a journalist covering stories around the globe for CNN and NBC News, where she was recognized for her outstanding reporting on a range of issues and topics including the 2000 Presidential election and Hurricane Katrina. Brown has also written for the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, The Daily Beast and Slate.

Brown serves on the boards of Success Academy Charter Schools and the Jewish Community Project, a preschool and community center in Lower Manhattan. She is married to Daniel Senor and has two sons.

McMahon is the co-founder and former CEO of WWE, a global entertainment company based in Stamford. She was the Republican nominee to represent Connecticut in the U.S. Senate in 2010 and 2012.

As a business executive, McMahon helped grow WWE from a 13-person operation to a publicly traded enterprise with more than 800 employees in offices worldwide. She has been widely recognized as one of the country’s top female executives.
