Federal delegation unanimously endorses Tetreau and Marmion

Senator Richard Blumenthal, Senator Chris Murphy and Congressman Jim Himes have unanimously endorsed Mike Tetreau and Sheila Marmion for First Selectman and Selectman of Fairfield.

First Selectman Mike Tetreau said, “We are humbled and honored to receive the endorsement of our entire federal delegation. Their support is very meaningful and reaffirms our hard work in making Fairfield a model community on low taxes, clean energy initiatives, an excellent education system, a revitalized senior center and a vibrant downtown with one of the lowest retention rates in Fairfield County.”

Congressman Himes, who came to Fairfield last week to show his support for First Selectman Tetreau and Selectman Marmion, stated “Mike and Sheila are true public servants. They do their homework, collaborate with others and are always out in the community listening to Fairfielders. Their sound fiscal policy and dedication to helping Fairfield’s families, seniors, students, and the business community have resulted in a well-run and highly desired community to live and work.”

Senator Blumenthal highlighted the fact that Mike and Sheila are strong supporters of Fairfield’s schools. “Mike Tetreau and Sheila Marmion are firmly focused on providing Fairfield’s children with the best possible education by giving them the foundation for a bright future.”

Mike and Sheila both understand the value of supporting every student, teacher, PTA, administrator and parent. Mike, a product of the Fairfield school system, attended Holland Hill, Tomlinson and Roger Ludlowe High School. His father, Fern Tetreau, who was honored on the Fairfield Warde HIgh School’s Wall of Fame and has FWHS’s athletic field named after him, was a well-known Pop Warner coach and popular teacher at two of Fairfield’s schools. As a mom of three children who are currently attending Fairfield’s public schools, Sheila takes pride in helping to keep Fairfield a community that is well known for high educational standards. Mike and Sheila fully funded Fairfield’s education budget this past year, including supporting all school security measures to keep Fairfield’s children safe.

Senator Murphy added, “A visit to Fairfield’s downtown clearly demonstrates the commitment Mike Tetreau and Sheila Marmion have shown for economic development and growing small businesses in town. Mike’s lifelong commitment to Fairfield is unmatched, and I am proud to support his team.”

Selectman Marmion also feels honored “to receive such strong support from our federal delegation. While many voters are understandably unhappy with some of the behavior and mismanagement of our taxpayer dollars at the state and federal level, we are fortunate to have a very responsive and hands on federal delegation in our two senators and congressman who have obtained grants for our town, stopped the closing of the Southport Post Office and helped lead us through the complex process of helping affected homeowners recover from Superstorm Sandy.”

Selectman Marmion added, “Mike and I are fully invested in making our town affordable for all. We will continue to work hard and keep listening to each and every resident to find the right balance between funding key town services while being mindful of taxpayers’ struggles and concerns.”
