Local doctor performs first Orbera non-surgical weight loss procedure

Dr. Abe Fridman, a bariatric surgeon and partner of Fairfield County Bariatrics & Surgical Specialists, P.C. has performed the first Orbera non-surgical weight loss procedure in Connecticut. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently approved Orbera to assist adult patients suffering from obesity who have a body mass index (BMI) of 30-40, to lose weight and maintain the weight loss.

With 20 years of global experience Orbera has been proven to be a safe and effective weight loss solution. More than 220,000 Orbera balloons have been distributed in over 80 countries. Fairfield County Bariatrics is the first in Connecticut to offer this new tool to help people achieve their weight loss goals.

The Orbera balloon is part of the Orbera Managed Weight Loss System, a comprehensive, non-surgical two part program that includes a balloon filling space in a patient’s stomach to reinforce proper portion control. Clinical trial data had proven that the average person lost 3.1 times the weight as compared with diet and exercise alone within a six month period.

Fairfield County Bariatrics recognizes that obesity is a chronic disease and we are proud to offer this new non-surgical procedure to help transform patient’s lives before their obesity disease progresses and requires more invasive treatment.
