LETTER: Supports Tetreau and Marmion

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor:

After spending the last two weekends talking to voters in RTM District 3, it’s clear that I’m not the only one who is dismayed at the negative campaign that Mr. Tymniak and Ms. McArdle are conducting for First (and Second?) Selectman.

GE is a state issue, and claims that Mike Tetreau is not assisting in every way he can are false. Penfield? Sure, we could have had it finished sooner–if we bonded another $6 million and crossed our fingers while waiting for insurance and FEMA reimbursements. The Stratfield Market? Is Mr. Tymniak running for First Selectman or king of Fairfield?

Tymniak-McArdle are conducting this depressingly negative campaign because they have very little to say on their own behalf. “Stronger schools” and “bringing taxation under control”? Great ideas but hardly unique policy positions.

On the other hand, Mike Tetreau has served on virtually every town board over the last 20-plus years. He sees the big picture and has worked tirelessly to get a hold on the main drivers of our budget. Since his election in 2011, Mike has delivered the lowest four-year tax increase in a very long time. That is to say, taxes are, in fact, under control. Mike has a track record. Why am I hearing nothing about Chris Tymniak’s?

This election is critical to the future of our town. If you agree that Mike Tetreau has earned another four years, please join me on November 3rd in supporting Mike Tetreau for First Selectman and Sheila Marmion for Selectman. See you at the polls.
