Veteran journalist to offer ‘Debate the Debates’

Journalist Pat Hines will moderate an informal, lively  discussion about the 2016 presidential race and its contenders at the Bigelow Center on Thursday, October 15, at 6:30 p.m. The event is free of charge.

The presidential race is wide open and views on who will win the nominations next summer are as divergent as the candidates themselves. The discussion, using the televised national candidate debates as a jumping-off point, will be facilitated by Patricia Hines, a Fairfield writer and political observer. Hines, a veteran journalist with more than 30 years in the industry, is the former editor of the Fairfield Citizen. She recently led a class of Lifetime Learners at the senior center on the past, present and future of newspapers.

“The ever-changing dynamic of the presidential race is fun to watch. And everyone has an opinion on who the nominees will be and who will win the office next November, so come share yours views on October 15,” Hines said.

The class will be limited to 25 participants. To register, call 203-256-3166 between Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

If this program is well attended, Bigelow Center will consider hosting a monthly current events discussion group with Pat Hines as moderator.
