Woman, 93, struck and killed by car

A 93-year-old woman was killed steps from her Fairland Drive home Thursday afternoon when she was hit by a car.

Fairfield Police Sgt. Suzanne Lussier said details are sparse as of Friday as the investigation continues.

The first two police officers to arrive found Ora Skowronski seriously injured in the street shortly after 2 p.m., and immediately began attempts to resuscitate her. She was rushed to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The vehicle that struck Skowronski stopped at the scene, and the driver is being interviewed by police.

Lussier said the accident remains under investigation. Details will be posted as they become available.

The accident occurred on Fairland Drive between Farist Road and Palm Drive, between Burroughs Road and Stillson Road.
