HMSDesign proposed to update the corporate identity for the parent company International ThermoDyne, and the selected direction simplified the company name (ITD). The updated brand identity utilizes an unexpected placement of the dotted “i” to give the logo a sense of movement and dynamism while conveying the company’s forward thinking philosophy.

HMSDesign also developed a new brand identity for ITD’s flagship offering, PowerFelt. The selected direction by ITD is a bending “P” which is symbolic of the lightweight and flexible fabric which can extend to a variety of applications.

Ranked by the New York Times as the #1 “Innovation That Will Change Your Tomorrow,” PowerFelt is a non-woven, lightweight, flexible plastic constructed from nanotubes that provides portable, inexpensive electricity. PowerFelt will revolutionize how the world harnesses energy to create power. HMSDesign’s initial range of solutions explored designs in four visual territories: 1) nanotube construction; 2) converting motion into energy; 3) a source of power; and 4) lightweight and flexible. Lastly, HMSDesign refreshed the International ThermoDyne website. The new site needed to reflect the excitement of the newly established ITD and PowerFelt identities, while optimizing usability for user-friendliness & fluidity.

“The HMSDesign Team was an absolute delight to work with,” said Tim Risser, co-founder, International ThermoDyne. “Not only did they walk us through the entire branding process in a professional manner, their marketing designs and ideas were world class. As an ex-consultant myself, I understand what a great process looks like, and I found it a pleasure to be on the other side of the equation. The HMSDesign team exceeded our expectations on every metric; listening and understanding our needs, converting those ideas into a tangible design, and building that into a final product.”
