Pequot Library hosts Kennedy Center’s Boundless art exhibition

Pequot Library’s Reading Room, Stacks, Rennell Room, and May Room will feature artwork from 30 different artists from the Kennedy Center. The exhibition, titled Boundless, runs from Wednesday, Sept. 9 through Thursday, Sept. 24, and will have an opening reception on Thursday, Sept. 10, from 6-8 p.m. This exhibition is open during regular library hours and is free and open to the public.

The Kennedy Center is a community-based rehabilitation organization, actively responding to the needs of persons with disabilities and special needs, from birth to seniors. It promotes the empowerment of consumers with diverse abilities, disabilities, and experiences toward optimal participation and inclusion in the community. The Kennedy Center currently supports approximately 2,400 individuals with vocational, residential, educational, therapeutic, social and recreational programs and services.

The title of the exhibition, Boundless, refers to the showcased artists, each with diverse experiences, backgrounds, challenges, and achievements. This art show is a way for the artists to embrace diversity and to have their talents celebrated, breaking the boundaries set in place by their disabilities.
