State Rep. Brenda Kupchick (R-132)

Over the last weeks and months I have heard from many frustrated constituents about their experiences at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). I have written to and spoken with the Commissioner sharing your frustrations.

I want to pass along the latest information from the DMV.

DMV launched a new vehicle registration system on August 18. The new system will provide customers with the option of completing some transactions online rather than having to spend their time in line at a DMV branch.

In addition to the new online services, DMV has extended expiration dates for customer convenience during this transition. All licenses, permits and registrations that expire on or after Aug. 11 but before Oct. 10, 2015 will be valid through October 10, 2015.

Some of the online offerings available include:

Renew, or cancel your registration.

Print a registration certificate.

Check DMV office wait times.

See what you’ll need to process a transaction before visiting a branch office, such as unpaid property taxes or lack of insurance which can result in repeated trips to DMV.

Order vanity and replacement plates online.

Provide customers with an option for DMV to contact them either by mail or email.

As always, please let me know if you have a problem with a state agency.
