LETTER: Thanks community for book donations to Pequot Library

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor:

Pequot Library’s 55th annual Summer Book Sale is now over! We would like to thank the community for your support with donations of books and media that made this sale possible.

For our neighbors, we appreciate your patience with an increase in traffic. We are glad everyone in town (and beyond) took this chance at “The Best Book Sale in New England” for one-stop-shopping to stock up on summer and fall reading material at bargain prices.

Pequot Library couldn’t produce this book sale without our steadfast, year-round volunteers, who work daily by sorting and pricing donated books and our dedicated, hard-working staff, who work behind the scenes to ensure the sale runs smoothly. Thank you all for your tireless efforts.

We are thrilled to report 270 teachers from Bridgeport and New Haven schools purchased more than 10,000 books to take back to their classrooms though The Renée B. Fisher Foundation “Books for Teachers” Program.

This book sale raised a record amount — 100% of which helps fund the annual operation of Pequot Library’s library services and popular programs. Thank you for your love of reading, your love of print and media, and your enthusiasm for your local cultural beacon, which promotes education and enrichment throughout the year.

Heather-Marie Montilla, MPA

Executive Director of Pequot Library
