Tango Lovers, ‘Best Musical’ comes to the Klein Sept. 25

Tango Lovers, the show that was recently awarded by Latin ACE as “The Best Musical Show of the Year” in New York, returns again to the U.S. and this time will make a stop in Bridgeport. With Copa Airlines as the official carrier of the internationally acclaimed company, Tango Lovers brings directly from Argentina and Uruguay, the best of the tango genre through a cast of renowned dancers, musicians and singer. The event will take place at the The Klein Memorial Auditorium on Friday, Sept. 25, at 8 p.m.

TangoLovers1Founder and first soloist Alfredo Lérida, previously recognized as Tango Artist of the Year in New York City, will lead the vocal part of the show accompanied by an extraordinary group of internationally awarded musicians and dancers from Buenos Aires and Montevideo. The cast of Tango Lovers Company is an ensemble of mostly young dancers led by 27-year-old artistic director, Marcos Ayala, who, at only 20 years of age became a world tango champion while in a competition in Japan. Last year, two other dancers from the company won the 2014 World Tango Dance Championship, that took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina. They will perform under the rhythms of an orchestra directed by multiple Grammy award nominee, Gustavo Casenave, a Steinway musician.

Argentina and Uruguay have been exporting their talent to the world from the early 1900’s making tango universally known in all continents. Prominent names in the tango arena such as Villoldo, Francisco Canaro, Carlos Gardel, Gerardo Matos and Astor Piazzola are widely known around the globe.
