Fairfield Chamber of Commerce awards dinner a ‘special’ evening

The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce held its 69th annual Meeting & Awards Dinner on June 11, at the Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University. “This was a very special evening, said Beverly A. Balaz, president of the Chamber, as we presented John Reid, producing artistic director, Fairfield Theatre Company, with 2015 Company of the Year … and bestowed the President’s Award for Community Outreach to People’s United Bank, accepted by Armando Goncalves, market president/Southern CT.

Company-of-the-Year-PlaqueBoth the Fairfield Theatre Company and People’s United Bank have immensely contributed to the community in a variety of different ways, providing help and support where they can … and as such, we wanted to acknowledge and recognize their contributions, accomplishments and achievements.” … continued Beverly.

“FTC — the best business in Fairfield. I just love the way that sounds”, proudly said John Reid. I was truly honored to receive this award on behalf of the FTC Team, our Board of Directors, and the entire community of supporters who have helped make FTC such a vibrant and exciting organization. Our new venue, The Warehouse at FTC, will soon be open, allowing us to have an even greater impact on our community.”

Joe Rog, director of Development FTC, said: “With this award, the Fairfield Chamber recognizes FTC’s contributions to arts and culture in the community, as well as its role as a major economic engine.”

President's-Award-PlaqueInvocation was given by Reverend Father Allen, S.J., Alumni Chaplain & Special Assistant to the President/Fairfield University, and Catherine Smith, Commissioner of the CT Department of Economic and Community Development, presented a timely overview of the current economic outlook in both Fairfield County and the state … and what we can expect in the future.

“We thank Fairfield University for hosting our event in their beautiful Dolan School of Business center, and we also give special thanks to our participating sponsors.” continued Beverly.

“It was a wonderful and memorable evening as both John Reid and Armando Goncalves graciously accepted their awards with warmth and appreciation … and of course, with a little humor.” said Beverly.
