Kenton Clarke, longtime resident of Fairfield, was recently elected into the World Drum  Corps Hall of Fame. The World Drum Corps Hall of Fame members have made contributions to drum and bugle corps activity from coast to coast and around the world. Inductees are elected by current members for their dedication, contributions and achievements over a long period of time in categories including administration, arranging, adjudication, instruction, innovation and design.

Kenton began his drum corps career in 1961 marching with the Fairfield PAL. He then played with the St. Raphael’s Golden Buccaneers of Bridgeport from 1962-1968. Kenton was named the 1970 All American National Individual Champion on soprano bugle defeating all competitors in the U.S. and Canada. Kenton later became the music director of many drum and Bugle corps throughout the Northeast. He led New York Skyliner’s horn line to world champions in both 1974 and 1975. Kenton was also brass instructor of the Milford Shoreliners who won the World Open and Northeast championships in 1977. He also instructed the Bengal Lancers of Trumbull, CT who were the Northeast championship in 1979.

Throughout his career Kenton was the music teacher of hundreds of students learning trumpet and bugles. He a brass adjudicator for the Metro Judges Association judging many musical competitions. Kenton’s notable trumpet/bugle solos include: Harry James, “Trumpet Blues”, “Macarthur Park”, Chicago’s “Makes Me Smile” and George Gershwin’s “Concerto in F” Kenton is also a member of the “Bugler’s Hall of Fame” which includes: Louie Armstrong, Maynard Ferguson, Clark Terry, and other prominent brass musicians.

Kenton has established a record of high achievement in the business world while serving as founder, president and CEO of Computer Consulting Associates International.
