Fire damaged home goes to auction

The Fairfield home where a disabled teenage girl and her mother perished in a house fire last March will be sold at public auction Sunday, July 12.

Fairfield Auction will conduct the sale at their gallery, located at 707 Main Street in Monroe. The opening bid for the as-is property will be $99,000.

Auctioneer Rosie DeStories says, “This will turn a page for the family and neighbors who have been living with this reminder of that tragic evening for the past year. We expect a new home to be built in short order.”

The Fairfield Auction gallery is located 10 minutes north of the Merritt Parkway in Monroe. The Crane Street property will be sold immediately preceding the regularly scheduled estate auction, which begins at 11 a.m.
