Make-a-Wish® Connecticut appoints Thomas Speight to its board of directors

Make-a-Wish® Connecticut recently appointed Fairfield resident Thomas Speight to its Board of Directors. The mission of Make-a-Wish® is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy; Speight’s strategic professional experience will certainly help the organization fulfill this goal. Speight formally joined the Board of Directors on June 4, 2015, and currently resides in Fairfield.

Speight currently serves as the President and CEO of H. Best Ltd., a portfolio of clothing brands based in New York City. In his two years in this position, Speight has built a 5-year plan to develop the company on a global scale, including launching two new categories of business for the 2(X) IST brand within his first nine months on the job. Previously, he held senior management positions at Kate Spade New York, Calvin Klein Underwear, a Division of Warnaco and Swarovski Jewelry. Speight began his career at G. Fox after receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Trinity College in Hartford, C.T.

Speight’s role on the Board of Directors will be to assist in the governance of its mission, vision, and values. He hopes to leverage his professional experience to continue the growth and development of Make-a-Wish® Connecticut’s vision of granting the wishes of every eligible child in the state. The Connecticut chapter has granted more than 2,500 wishes since its inception in 1986, and will grant 220 this year alone.

About the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Connecticut, Inc.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Connecticut grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Wish-come-true experiences can do wonders by providing a much-needed break from lengthy hospital stays and medical treatments. They give back to a child what a serious medical condition can take away-the chance to simply enjoy being a kid. Wish kids choose something that will inspire happiness and allow them to spend precious time with their families. The Connecticut chapter has made over 2,500 wishes come true since its inception in 1986.
