Space still available for CT Audubon’s Nature’s Classroom Camp

Enhance your child’s curiosity this summer with hands-on science and nature exploration at The Connecticut Audubon Society’s Center at Fairfield. The week-long camp sessions come in a wide variety of formats offering enriching experiences, exciting adventures, outdoor learning exploration-and memories to last a lifetime.

From investigating the mysteries of mud, to searching the ponds and meadows for signs of baby animals, to honing wilderness survival skills, the sessions take full advantage of the Larsen Sanctuary’s outdoor classroom and natural wonders to foster learning, creativity and fun! Half- and full-day sessions include a daily “Lunch Bunch” option.

The Junior Science Lab programs for older campers offer advanced inquiry and hands-on experimentation for students who completed grades 6-8. Through engaging projects and scientific discovery, these sessions are fun and challenging. “Bits and Bones: Forensic Science” teaches campers about crime scene investigation. “Zoology: Biology Dissection” includes opportunities to dissect a frog, grasshopper, worm and starfish. “Fun-Omenal Physics” gives future mechanical engineers the chance to explore the science and design of motion and create a simple machine.

Camp sessions are led by teacher-naturalist and college-educated staff with experience in education and/or science. Counselors and Junior Volunteers provide additional support. Staff trained in First Aid, CPR, and Epi-Pen is present at all times. The camp’s high staff-to-camper ratio ensures all campers have a safe, fun, and educational camp experience.
