Find out more about Eagle Hill School

Benjamin Powers, the headmaster of Eagle Hill School in Southport, stopped by the HAN Network studios on Tuesday to talk about his private school in Connecticut.

Powers was on during Coffee Break, HAN’s daily show that features the latest news from southwestern Connecticut, along with sports, weather, traffic and entertainment and features.

You can watch Powers talk about Eagle School with Coffee Break co-hosts John Kovach and Donald Eng below or at this link.

Located in the historic Southport village, Eagle Hill is in the former Pequot School Building on a two-acre campus. It currently has 101 students, from 6 to 14 years old. Last school year, for example, the school had 72 boys and 29 girls.

There are currently 24 teachers, six administrators and nine other staff members. The student-to-faculty ratio is 4:1.

Students have the opportunity to play sports such as soccer, cross country, basketball, softball, baseball, or cheerleading. During classes the dress code is a coat and tie for boys and uniform skirt for girls.

Over the years, the school has served students from 45 communities. Students currently come from 22 communities in southwestern Connecticut — with the largest representations from Darien, Fairfield, New Canaan, Norwalk, Weston, Westport, and Wilton.

The HAN Network is part of Hersam Acorn, which owns and operates 13 newspapers and many more news and lifestyle websites in southwestern Connecticut and Westchester, NY along with HANRadio.com, the voice of Hersam Acorn, which features live news, sports and entertainment throughout the year. Much of HAN’s daily news and sports programming is broadcast live on video. You can watch the videos or check out the daily schedule at HANRadio.com/livestream/.
