Early in his career, Porter worked with seminal New Orleans artists like Allen Toussaint, Earl King, Lee Dorsey, Johnny Adams, and in 1965, joined the Meters, who are still today considered by many the ultimate fusion of rock, funk and R&B. His work with the Meters garnered him the recognition as one of the scene’s most elite bass players and today his influence can be found in all New Orleans funk music.

During the course of his legendary career, that has spanned four decades, Porter has not only made a deep impression with his work in the Meters, but has performed with an accolade of diverse artists including Paul McCartney, Jimmy Buffett, David Byrne, Patti LaBelle, Robbie Robertson, Taj Mahal, and Tori Amos.

Returning once again to StageOne, but this time with his unique project, the Runnin’ Pardners which is assembled of some of NOLA’s most seasoned and talented musicians  including Brint Anderson (guitar), Michael Lemmler (keyboards) and rising stars Khris Royal (saxophone) and Terrence Houston (drums). Together with Porter these men have become one the most respected bands to come out of the big easy due to their tight and funky musicianship that constantly captivates audiences where ever they perform; wasting no time laying out the funk and melody with extreme force.

Once you witness Porter’s agile, rippling bass in person it is easy to see why he is considered one of the industry’s elite bass players as well as one of the most sought after musicians of this time.
