Reports person hit by train in Fairfield

5 p.m. — Metro North has confirmed the trespasser struck by the train in Fairfield has died.

UPDATE: Wednesday, 4:21 p.m.: A trespasser was struck by a Metro North train just east of the Fairfield Metro station according to Majorie Anders of the MTA at 3:40 p.m.

Though it is not medically confirmed, Anders said witnesses report the trespasser’s status as DOA (dead on arrival).

The train was the 2:04 p.m. out of Grand Central due in New Haven at 4:06. As of 3:52 p.m., Anders said the Fairfield Fire Department has put a hold on all four tracks. The railroad is attempting to get bus service between Bridgeport and Southport. Service between Stamford and Grand Central are not currently affected and trains will not be held in Grand Central.

Wednesday, May 27, 4:15 p.m.: Rail service is delayed as of 4:10 p.m. Wednesday amid reports that a person has been struck by a train just east of the Fairfield Metro station.

Reports indicate the 2:04 out of New Haven was the train involved, and the incident occurred at 4:06 p.m.

In March a woman was killed at the Fairfield station when she was struck by a train.
