Cat rescued twice in one day

A cat was rescued Saturday morning when adopted from the shelter had to be rescued a second time by the Fairfield firefighters that same day.

The woman who adopted the cat took it to Petco on Grasmere Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Saturday to surprise her son. The cat escaped, ran behind the brake pedal then jumped behind the dashboard of the car the woman was driving.  It appeared that the cat was stuck.

Firefighters worked for a half hour before closing the SUV and leaving cat food within range.  The shy cat started to emerge, but made a dash back to the dash.

The second time was the charm  and firefighters quick hands made sure there was no turning back.

It was paradise by the dashboard lights on the ride home.
