Deja vu: Ludlowe falls to Ridgefield boys lacrosse, again 15-3

Sometimes, the regular season is a false indicator for the post-season.

But on Friday night, it was perfect blueprint.

After beating Fairfield Ludlowe by a score of 15-3 during the regular season, the Ridgefield High boys lacrosse team routed the fifth-seeded Falcons by the same exact score in the FCIAC quarterfinals at Tiger Hollow.

Ridgefield (13-4), the fourth seed, will now face top-seed Greenwich in the semifinals on Tuesday night at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk. Greenwich defeated the Tigers earlier this season, and also ousted Ridgefield in the conference and state semifinals last year.

In Friday evening’s game, Ridgefield dominated from the start. With Ryan Dunn and Peter Dearth each scoring two goals, the hosts built a 4-1 lead after the first quarter.

Two goals from Simon Mathias helped Ridgefield increase its lead to 6-2 at halftime.

Schuyler Blair then took center stage in the third period, tallying three goals as the Tigers went ahead, 11-3, going into the final 12 minutes.

Ridgefield then added the only four goals of the final quarter to end the scoring.

Dunn and Blair each finished with four goals for the Tigers. Mathias added three goals, and Bobby Philbin and Dearth each scored two goals.

Joseph Casucci, Trevor Demilt and Matt Doyle had the goals for Ludlowe (12-4), which will now await the start of the state tournament.

“The possession was heavily in our favor today, just like it was in our last game [with Ludlowe],” said Ridgefield head coach Roy Colsey. “Ultimately, that was the difference in the game. Our faceoff guy, Harrison Levesque, had a great day again.”
