Fairfield Theatre Company screens award winning film, Mommy

The Fairfield Theatre Company will screen the 2014 Cannes Award winning film, Mommy Monday, June 1, at 7:30, StageOne, 70 Sanford Street.

The Xavier Dylan film was Canada’s entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards, and may be Dylan’s best work to date. It’s a powerfully moving film about a strong willed widowed mother Diane (Anne Dorval) who finds herself taking full-time custody of her unpredictable 15-year old son Steve (Antoine-Olivier Pilon) who’s dealing with ADHD, explosive anger management issues, and an unhealthy attachment to his mother. As the two work on getting things in order, they meet a new neighbor, Kyla (Suzanne Clément), who offers to help, harboring her own pain and eccentricities which then draws her closer to these two as kindred spirits. Together the three build themselves a makeshift familial unit and try and overcome their personal demons.

Audiences get ready as FTC screens this heartbreaking film that will take you to the edge, but along the way fill you with humor, hope and a compelling raw energy.
