May is Mental Health Awareness Month

The Southwest Regional Mental Health Board is delighted to inform the public that May has been designated Mental Health Awareness Month.

More than 60 free and public events have been planned at local libraries, social service agencies, hospitals, and Town Halls throughout Fairfield County. Activities include art shows, trainings, expert speakers, mental health screenings, movie and theater events, and health fairs, and all raise awareness of mental illness and mental wellness.

These events offer community members the opportunity to learn more about how to support the 1 in 5 friends, neighbors and family members who live with a mental illness. Information tables are also available in local libraries.

For more information, and to view the event calendar, visit the Southwest Regional Mental Health Board website at
