Someone smashed through a window at the Shell Gas Station at 2424 Black Rock Turnpike early Friday, Oct. 5, stealing some $3,400 worth of merchandise.

An alarm was reported at the store at 5:03 a.m. Both counter motion and glass break sensors activated. An employee who arrived to open the store called police stating the front glass door was shattered and no one was there. Police found no one inside the store.

A 15-pound rock was thrown through a 2-foot by 3-foot glass pane, causing an estimated $1,000 in damage.

Police said the suspect is a bald male, either Hispanic or a light skinned black male, wearing jeans and a hooded sweatshirt.

Whoever broke into the store went behind the register counter, emptied the garbage can and put 30 cartons of cigarettes, worth $3,400 into the can before leaving out the front door, according to police.
