Senior Center: ‘Confessions of an Urban Archeologist’

Greg Van Antwerp will give a free talk about his “finds” gathered while treasure hunting for years in estate sales, garage and tag sales Saturday, May 9, at 9:30 a.m., at the Fairfield Senior Center, 100 Mona Terrace.

In 2009, Van Antwerp began blogging about his discoveries by creating “Confessions of an Urban Archeologist.” The blog contains more than 500 posts with photos, videos and stories documenting the “best” of what he discovered in his journeys. Greg not only shares his “finds” but asks his readers for assistance in helping him understand what he has found, while inviting readers to share stories of their finds as well.

Using digital images and video clips, Van Antwerp will provide a look at some believable and some unbelievable discoveries. He has taken part in the rescue, restoration and return of some valuable items and some of these stories will be told during his talk.

His professional life has been spent working in community television for more than 20 years. He enjoys cartooning, photography and writing.
