Calling all runners: The Greenfield Hill Congregational Church’s 80th annual Dogwood Festival is looking for sprinters of all ages to take part in the annual Dogwood Dash that will be held Saturday, May 2, at 8:30 a.m.

The Dogwood Dash is for runners ages 8 years-old and 60+, and the two-mile family fun run features a flat course among the picturesque setting of blooming Dogwood trees.

Participants are encouraged to register online ahead of the race at startlineraeservices.com. The online fee is $20; the day of the race, it costs $25. Same-day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. on May 2.

All proceeds from the Dogwood Dash are donated to various local, U.S.-based, and global charities. The first 100 entries receive a complimentary t-shirt, and awards will be given for all age categories, best team and largest family.

For younger runners, there’s the Mini Dash, also taking place May 2. It is a free event for children ages 2 to 7-years-old, and it will be held The Memorial Garden next to the church playground. Registration for the Mini Dash takes place on the day of the run at 10 a.m., and the race begins at 10:30. There also will be awards for all categories and prizes for all participants.

Both races are held at the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church, 1045 Old Academy Road, Fairfield.

The Dogwood Festival also features other activities for all ages, including a historical walking tour, children’s games, face-painting, musical performances and artisans as well as savory foods and delicious confections.

Additionally, visitors may shop at more than 60 craft, artisan and food booths featuring vendors from throughout New England.
