Cultural Alliance administers Regional Initiative Small Grant Program

Following the highly successful Giving Day, a 24-hour Fairfield County Community Foundation sponsored marathon in support of arts and cultural organizations, the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut has received $30,587 in grants from DECD CT Office of the arts. On Giving Day, March 5, the Cultural Alliance received an additional $3,185 in contributions through enthusiastic supporters who called in their donations, which raised more than a million dollars for Fairfield County nonprofit organizations.

Grant awards from CT Office of the Arts are primarily to help the Cultural Alliance’s efforts to promote and support art, history, and cultural assets in the region, including providing tens of thousands of people with a comprehensive regional calendar of events on; encourage arts based place-making; and offering opportunities for exhibitions, meetings, workshops, networking, and performances @287 Gallery and Meeting Place.

In addition, the Cultural Alliance is to administer a new Regional Initiative Small Grant Program, for its service area — Danbury, Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, and Sherman — This grant program was created by COA to invest in arts-based cultural projects, activities and infrastructure in ways that will advance the attractiveness and competitiveness of Connecticut cities, towns, and villages as meaningful communities in which to live, work, learn and play.
