There’s no age limit on entrepreneurship, and AARP and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) are teaming up with FranNet to prove it.

The organizations have partnered for a special event entitled, “Linking the Encore Entrepreneur with Community,” Tuesday, April 21, from 10-noon, at the Margaret E. Morton Government Center, 999 Broad Street, Bridgeport.

The event is designed for entrepreneurs and business owners age 50 and over who are looking to enhance their skill sets and access vital resources that will help put their business endeavors on the path to success.

“AARP knows that many older Americans pursue entrepreneurship as a way to generate income and strengthen financial security,” said Nora Duncan, AARP Connecticut director. “And for many of these workers, it is also a way to turn a hobby or passion into a paycheck. AARP creates real possibilities by connecting experienced workers with the resources and guidance they need to help start or grow a small business.”

Attendees can expect to hear from a varied list of speakers, as well as learn about exclusive programs offered by AARP, the SBA and local resource organizations.

Bill Brimmer, a franchise specialist with FranNet, has worked with numerous Baby Boomers who have become business owners. He explained how the franchise industry not only helps older entrepreneurs achieve their goals, but acts as a cornerstone of the nation’s economy, as well.

“FranNet partners with AARP and the SBA on these special events because small business is the lifeblood of the USA,” Brimmer said. “Franchise businesses provide in excess of 21 million jobs. Those jobs provide $700 billion in annual payrolls.”

Whether it’s someone who has been laid off, is ready for a career change or simply wants to secure a more financially comfortable retirement, this event is intended to provide attendees with the tools they need to enjoy financial freedom.

Those interested in attending are encouraged to register by calling 1-877-926-8300 or online at
