Children’s choir presents 20th anniversary concert

Fairfield County Children’s Choir, founded in 1995, will be celebrating their 20th anniversary season by singing their favorite songs of the past 20 years Saturday May 2, at 7 p.m., at Norwalk Concert Hall, 125 East Avenue.

Choristers, families, and audience members—past and present— have voted by individual ballot for songs from the vast FCCC repertoire that have touched their hearts and stuck with them in a special way. The resulting list of “special requests” will be presented as the program for the group’s spring concert.

FCCC alumni from its 20-year span of music making have been invited to sing and will take the stage with current choristers on songs including Bridge Over Troubled Water, Clear Water, Sing Me to Heaven, I’m Goin’ Up a Yonder, Amazing Grace, Total Praise, and The Lion Sleeps Tonight, among others.

More than 300 young singers in grades 4-12 make up the Fairfield County Children’s Choir under the direction of Jon Noyes. Since its inception, the group’s mission has been to provide children the opportunity to participate in a musical experience that is challenging, rewarding, and enjoyable. Thousands of singers and their families who have participated in FCCC over the years attest to the success of its program of instruction in vocal and choral technique, music literacy and appreciation, as well as practice and public performance of classic and new musical literature. The group has performed all over the world. It instills a lifelong passion for singing and an appreciation of the world’s great music. Through affordable tuition and scholarship aid, FCCC makes its program available to all children interested in singing.

Tickets, at $15 and $20, are available at the door, or 203-414-4292;
