BRBC appoints new board chair for Women’s Leadership Council

Jocelyn Paoletta, the executive director of The Bridgeport Regional Business Council’s Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) has announced the appointment of the Council’s new Board Chair, Mary Beth Nelsen.

“Mary Beth brings a wealth of leadership experience to the WLC, and we are delighted that she has a decided interest in supporting and advancing our mission to contribute to the economic growth and positive reputation of the Greater Bridgeport Region by developing women as leaders in business and the community,” said Paoletta.

Mary Beth Nelsen, president of The Right Resource, brings more than 20 years of experience as an outcome-focused learning and development consultant and coach to her private practice. Her passion is helping people and organizations realize their best potential by developing people’s skills to meet business needs. She specializes in organizational change, employee engagement and leadership development. Working in partnership with her clients, she focuses on integrating and aligning customer, employee, and organizational needs to achieve winning outcomes. Mary Beth assesses organizational and individual needs, develops and conducts human relations, stress management, communications, management, coaching, leadership and sales training programs to catalyze personal and organizational change.

One particular topic Mary Beth specializes in, “Generations in the Workforce,” was presented to the business community by the Women’s Leadership Council via its Lunch & Learn Series on Feb. 6. More than 60 area businesses participated and enjoyed lunch provided by sponsor and host location, Ludlowe Center for Health & Rehabilitation.

Her work experience includes administrator of the Connecticut Bankers Association School of Finance and Management, a two-year leadership development program for banking professionals. As SVP and client manager for Fairmont, a research, training and development company for the financial services industry, Mary Beth co-developed and delivered a variety of management development, leadership, communication, coaching, customer service and sales programs and workshops throughout the US and Canada. Results include elevated staff performance levels and transition of organizations to progressive integrated service and sales cultures.

Mary Beth is a popular speaker, creative writer, tutor and ESL editor. She is certified to conduct DiSC programs including Work of Leaders. She strives to positively influence attitudes and behaviors to support client goals via lectures, presentations, speeches, classroom training and one-on-one coaching.

In addition to being chair of the BRBC’s Women’s Leadership Council Mary Beth is also a Bridgeport Regional Business Council board member and she sits on the BRBC’s Ambassador Committee. She is a state co-coordinator for the Healthy Workplace Bill in CT, a Justice of the Peace and volunteer with Sandy Hook Promise and Charlotte Bacon Acts of Kindness. She is a past 4-term president of the CT Home Educators Association.
