Fairfield defeats Milford in ice hockey

The Fairfield Warde-Ludlowe boys hockey team defeated Milford co-op, 4-1, in a Division II first round game at the Wonderland of Ice in Bridgeport on Tuesday night.

Fairfield (15-6-0), seeded sixth will play No. 3 Branford (15-5-1) on Friday at a time and place to be determined. Milford, the 11th seed, finished its season 10-10-1.

Jake Fuss gave Fairfield a 1-0 lead at 12:57 of the first period, with the assist going to Charlie Dippert.

Fuss’ power-play goal at the 6:20 mark of the second period was unassisted and gave Fairfield a 2-0 advantage.

Milford closed the gap when Andrew Gobany scored at 12:20 of the third. Jonathan DePascale had the assist.

Fuss completed his hat trick at 3:55 with Trevor Demilt earning the assist.

Demilt scored with 58.6 seconds left to complete the scoring.

Kyle Greenhut had 24 saves for Fairfield. Milford’s Sean Rowland made 18 stops.
