Notre Dames loses in SWC girls basketball final

Notre Dame of Fairfield’s girls basketball team lost, 58-50, to New Fairfield in Thursday’s South-West Conference championship game at Newtown High School.

The third-seeded Lancers got 13 points from Taylor Ceballos, 12 from Gabrielle Joseph, eight from Kayla Croswell, seven from Whitely Fulton, six from Nakia Mabin and four from Raina Ceryak.

New Fairfield, the No. 1 seed, remained perfect against SWC opponents behind 18 points from Most Valuable Player Emily Farrell.

Croswell and Ceballos were named to the All Tournament team, as were New Fairfield’s Bridget Zema Zima and Sydney Gouveia.
