Award-winning husband-wife team talk about Frederick Douglass

Meet the award-winning husband-wife team of Lesa Cline-Ransome (Author of six books) and James E. Ransome (Illustrator on more than 25) as they discuss their collaboration on such works as the picture book biography, Words Set Me Free: The Story of Young Frederick Douglass on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2-3:30. Their PowerPoint presentation will offer an overview of their works and gives an insight into the process of working together. It will foster a discussion on the creative process in general, followed by a Q & A session.

Words Set Me Free: The Story of Young Frederick Douglass is the inspirational, true story of how Frederick Douglass finds his way to freedom, one word at a time. Other titles of their books include: Freedom’s School; Light in the Darkness; My Name is Truth; and Whale Trails, Before and Now. Following the Q & A session, the author and illustrator will lead a workshop for kids using cut paper and scissors to draw and cut out geometric shapes to create images and figures on paper.
