Lancers get shots, but Blue Wave gets goals

Darien posts 3-1 non-conference win over Notre Dame in boys ice hockey

Notre Dame of Fairfield fired off 39 shots, but Darien found the net thrice and took the 3-1 victory in a non-conference boys’ ice hockey game at the Darien Ice Rink Wednesday.

Darien goalie Will Massie unofficially made 38 saves as the Blue Wave remained unbeaten in 10 games, including a forfeit Monday night over St. Joe’s. Darien is 14-2-1.

FI-hockeyHerbert Hazelton took a feed from Sam Knowlton, skated up the middle of the ice and converted the breakaway gave Darien a 1-0 lead at 4:20 of the first period.

Jack Pardue made it 2-0 after a takeaway behind his own blue line and a slalom up the middle of the rink before scoring at 13:52 of the first.

Carter Joyce took a pass from Riley Mullin, skated in and made it 3-0 at 4:44 of the second.

Notre Dame (9-8 overall) got ont he board at 13:55 of the second period when Mark Russo found the net, assisted by Justin Dupuis.

William Scovill had 26 saves unofficially for the Lancers.
