Warde's Kane pins way to FCIAC finals

Tim Kane of Fairfield Warde, ranked No. 2, in the 126-pound class of the FCIAC wrestling championships, pinned No. 3 Dante Montanaro of Trumbull in New Canaan on Saturday morning, Feb. 14.

In the other 126-pound semifinal, No. 1 Paulo Freitas of Danbury won in a decision over Andrew Blum of Westhill, 13-2.

Kane and Freitas will face off for the 126-pound county title later on Saturday.

Earlier on Saturday, Ludlowe’s Austin Sherman won his 113-pound semifinal match; and Ludlowe’s George Wales won his 120-pound semifinal match.

The FCIAC championships, in all weight classes, is going on all day at New Canaan High School. Fairfield-Sun.com will have updates all day long.
