Warde loses to St. Joseph in boys hoop

The Fairfield Warde boys basketball team built up a 33-23 halftime lead over St. Joseph, before the Cadets came back to post a 63-59 victory over the Mustangs in an FCIAC game at the Vito Montelli Court in Trumbull on Friday.

Chris Smaldone led Warde, now 4-13, with 16 points. J.J. Conway had 15 points, and like Smaldone, buried a trio of 3-pointers.
Marcel Parsons scored 11 points, Malcom Brune eight and Jackson Longley seven.

St. Joseph’s Mike Sulik scored 25 points, was 5-for-6 from the foul line, and grabbed 11 rebounds, as the Cadets improved to 3-13.

Camren Menefee scored 13 points, Joe Mangiamele had 11 points and five steals, and Omar Telfer had eight points, three steals and three assists.
