Fairfield officials to take part in McKinney Roast

Tickets are still available for the Fairfield Republican Town Committee’s Roast for former State Senator John McKinney. The event, which will honor McKinney’s years of service to Connecticut, will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, from 6 to 10 p.m., at the Fairfield Gaelic American Club, 74 Beach Road in Fairfield.

McKinney will be roasted by State Senator Tony Hwang (R-28), former Congressman Christopher Shays. former State House Minority Leader Larry Cafero, State Senate Minority Leader Len Fasano, former State Senator Bill Aniskovich, former Fairfield First Selectman Ken Flatto, former Fairfield finance officer Paul Hiller, and Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton. A special presentation will be made by First Selectman Mike Tetreau and Selectman Kevin Kiley. Co-master of ceremonies will be State Representative Brenda Kupchick and Fairfield Republican Town Committee Chairman James Millington.

For 16 years, McKinney served in the Connecticut State Senate representing the towns of Easton, Fairfield, Newtown, Weston and Westport. He was elected Minority Leader of the Senate in June 2007 and was a ranking member on the General Assembly’s Housing and Legislative Management committees. He also served on the Executive Nominations Committee.
