Legislative forum: Priorities, problems, and progress

Fairfield’s Representatives and Senator in Hartford will discuss priorities, problems, and progress in the 2015 State General Assembly session at the League of Women Voters Legislators Forum, Saturday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m., at the Fairfield Museum and History Center, 380 Beach Road.

At the annual event, Representatives Laura Devlin, Brenda Kupchick, and Cristin McCarthy Vahey, and Senator Tony Hwang will speak to major issues facing Connecticut and also answer audience questions about the upcoming workings in the state Capitol. While every issue has budget implications, other topics that may arise include privacy, government transparency, highway tolls, public safety, nonprofit hospitals, mental health programs and policies, sentencing of juvenile offenders, and education.

The Legislative Forum is free and open to the public. Coffee and continental breakfast fare will be available at 9:30 a.m., with the forum scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. LWV member and Fairfield League co-president Bryce Perry will serve as moderator.

This is the first of many Fairfield League of Women Voters 2015 events. If you have any questions about the Fairfield League, e-mail [email protected]
