Fairfield Prep’s Colton Smith (Fordham University) and Anthony Palazzolo (Boston College signed commitment letters on Tuesday.
Colton Smith
This past season as Prep’s quarterback, Smith rushed for 953 yards and 15 touchdowns, and threw for 1,547 yards and 16 TDs.
Over the past two seasons as quarterback, Smith generated over 6,000 yards of total offense and accounted for 70 TDs. He was a team co-captain in 2014.
In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Smith  was named All Southern Connecticut Conference, as well as being named to the CHSCA Class LL All-State team, the New Haven Register All-Area team, the Connecticut Post Hearst 33 All-Star Team and the MSG All-Connecticut team.
Coach Tom Shea said of Smith, “He was one of the most dominant and exciting players in Connecticut high school football over the past two years.”
Smith’s contributions to the community include service with Ability Beyond Disability, where he works with Special Olympians and participation in Prep’s Urban Plunge. He also volunteers in the after school program at the Shehan Center in Bridgeport.
Anthony Palazzolo
As a standout in the Prep football program, Palazzolo  found a Band of Brothers in his teammates and has been a three-year starter on both offense and defense.
In three years on defense he had nearly 100 tackles, 25 for loss, 10 quarterback sacks, one interception and six blocked kicks, despite being regularly double and triple teamed.
On the offensive side, he helped his team average 37 points a game for the last 25 games. Palazzolo was a team co-captain in 2014.
Palazzolo was named All Southern Connecticut Conference as well as to the CHSCA All Class LL All-State team, the New Haven Register All State and All-Area teams, and the Connecticut Post Hearst 33 All-Star team.
Coach Shea said, “Anthony has great physical gifts and a superb work ethic that will serve him well in the Boston College program.”
In addition to his year round commitment to Prep football, Palazzolo has progressed well in his studies while serving in Prep’s student government and making a strong commitment to service.
In addition to assisting in the after school program at the Shehan Center in Bridgeport, Palazzolo traveled to Montego Bay, Jamaica, to participate in a service mission at an orphanage for special needs children.
