Snow and freezing rain expected through Monday

Snow will be mixing with freezing rain and rain at various times in Fairfield between Saturday afternoon and Monday evening, according to the National Weather Service, making local travel potentially hazardous.

Less than two inches of snow accumulation is forecasted during the two-and-a-half day period.

Saturday the chance of snow is just 20% with a high temperature near 31-degrees.

The chance of snow continues to midnight, and then the chance rises to 40% that snow will mix with freezing rain in the overnight hours.

Sunday calls for snow and freezing rain before 9 a.m., then a chance of snow and rain between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and then a chance of snow and freezing rain after 3 p.m. Temperatures may reach a high of  35. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday night there is a 60% chance of snow and freezing rain, mainly after midnight, with less than one inch of snow expected.

The gray skies continue as the work week returns Monday with a 90% chance of snow mixing with freezing rain and a high temperature of 33 degrees forecasted. New snow accumulation of less than one inch is possible.

Snow and freezing rain may continue right up through 3 a.m. Tuesday morning and then possibly change to all snow. Again, accumulations are not expected to exceed one inch. The low temperature Monday night is expected to be 21 degrees.

Tuesday the sun is expected to be seen with high temperatures near 35.
