White Pythons win FAST title

The Fairfield United Soccer Association’s U12 White Pythons won their bracket title at the FAST Tournament. Team members (front row l-r) are: Owen Gannon, Malcom Katz and Colin Agostisi; (second row) Frankie Keller, Aiden Stepsis and Ramez Crump; (third row) Nick Fawcett, Will McGuire, Sam Greenberg, Ryan Salese, Jack Owens, Finn Mangan, Michael Ferguson and Malcom Shaw; (fourth row) Tech coach Alvin Charlery, assistant coach Tony Salese and head coach Tom Gannon.

The White Pythons, a U12 boys team in the Fairfield United Soccer Association (FUSA), took home the championship trophy in the organization’s 4th annual FAST Tournament over Labor Day weekend.
The boys won three games and tied one, placing them just ahead of Bethel to take top honors in the Green bracket.
Another FUSA U12 boys team, the Red Strikers, placed second in its Blue bracket.
Pythons’ oach Tom Gannon said, “We scored a total of 10 goals in the tournament. Those 10 goals were scored by nine different players from eight different positions on the field. This is quite remarkable at this age level and is reflective of a balanced team, and most importantly, unselfish play.”
Soccer teams from all over Connecticut and Westchester participated in the tournament, which involved a round-robin format for players from U9 to U14.
FAST is a one-day tournament, with the girls playing on Saturday and the boys playing on Sunday.
According to FAST co-chairs Matt Rush and Carsten Jerrild, the FUSA organization had three champions, seven runner-ups, and thousands of smiles. That sounds like a great weekend of soccer.
