Next snow storm lining up with Super Bowl

If you’re traveling to a Super Bowl party Sunday you could be driving home through a snow storm.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Fairfield and the area in effect from Sunday evening through Monday afternoon.

The storm could bring up to a foot of snow and some ice, according to the weather service.

The state is opening its emergency operations center at 4 a.m. Monday.

There’s 45% chance of snow Sunday afternoon in town, according to the weather service, and a 90% of snow by 10 o’clock Sunday night.

The Super Bowl, the most watched television event across the country each year, kicks off at 6:30 p.m. eastern time and mostly likely will end by 10:30. The New England Patriots play the Seattle Seahawks for the NFL title in Arizona this year.

Total snow accumulation between Sunday and Monday could be between eight and 14 inches, according to various forecasts.

Temperatures are forecasted to be 18 degrees Sunday at game time, rising to 28 by midnight.
